Come to Southern Oregon University this summer for an unforgettable, hands-on, educational experience. We will be offering many exciting classes and residential camps. Kids U - A super summer program for ages 8-12

Thirty-Two classes to choose from!
Session 1: July 13-17
Session 2: July 20-24
Session 3: July 27-31
Session 4: August 3-7

The Program curriculum includes a wide variety of classes  in drama, art, recreation, science and technology. Kids U is open to all students who enjoy action-packed, and hands-on experiences. Classes are informal with no grades or tests.

  • Options of attending morning and/or afternoon sessions
  • Free Supervised brown bag lunch for students enrolled in morning and afternoon sessions
  • Classes are held on the Southern Oregon University campus

HOT CLASSES - A Variety of Exciting Summer Classes for Students-Ages 6-18

Our Hot Classes include many annual favorites and new classes every year.

College Prep Institute- ages 14-18

August 3-7, 9 am-Noon, SOU Ashland
This College Prep program will provide high school students with effective test taking strategies and test preparation to help them be successful on the SAT test. A college essay seminar will provide an opportunity for students to learn the components of an effective college admissions essay. An evening parent seminar will be included to discuss timetables, evaluating colleges, applications, finances and applying for scholarships.

Conservatory for Young Theatre Artists

Camelot Theatre Company - ages 7-17
August 17-21, 9:00 am-4:00 pm SOU Ashland
Come explore and experience theatre arts: imporvisation, acting, music and dance. Professionals with a wide range of depth and experience teach classes. The week culminates with a collaborative theater performance.

Other classes include art classes, computer and video classes, recreation classes and many more.

RESIDENTIAL CAMPS

ACADEMY 2009

An academic residential camp for talented and highly able students
June 14-20, completing grades 5-6 plus Junior Counselors (grades 11-12)
June 21-27, completing grades 5-6 plus Junior Counselors (grades 11-12) and grades 7-8

An academic residential camp for Latino students.
August 9-15, completing grades 7-9 plus Junior Counselors (grades 11-12)

Sea Camp of Oregon

Marine Biology Coastal Camp
August 16-19, ages 9-12
Explore tide pools, go crabbing, spy on seals and sea lions, and take a boat trip to see marine birds, dolphins and whales.

Oregon Outdoor Adventures

A residential camp for the wild and curious
July 19-25 for students who have completed seventh grade
Explore Deer Creek Field Station, Crater Lake National Park, the Oregon Caves and the Klamath Marshes.
