Instructor Profiles
Melina Barker is the Education Director at Eagle Mill Farm Education Project. She attended the SOU Environmental Education Master’s Program and has been teaching for seven years.
Samar Dawisha is a local artist who has taught throughout the Rogue Valley and currently teaches at Ashland High School.
Vince Domenzain is the PGA Director at Centennial Golf Club and has been a PGA Golf Pro for sixteen years.
Zhagang Frisbee taught junior high in China for seven and has over five years of early childhood education teaching experience.
Brandon Givens is the Rogue Valley Television government and public access coordinator and an instructor at SOU.
Amy Godard has a degree in both Art and Spanish from the University of Oregon and studied at the University of Guanajuanto. She is an Ashland artist and educator who has been teaching children for many years.
Laurie Hayden aka “The Tree Lady” has been a guest speaker in the elementary schools for 10 years in Jackson County. She gives various indoor and outdoor presentations to all students, teaches tree science, resources and conservation.
Julie Inada has a MA from OSU and a MAT from Lewis and Clark. She has been teaching Language Arts and the middle school and high school levels for more than ten years.
Cynthia Hewitt has a bachelor’s in social ecology/child development from UC Irvine and has taught workshops and seminars throughout the Valley.
Craig Honeycutt has a master’s in art education and is a local artist and art educator with more than twenty years of teaching experience.
Annette Lewis majored in theatre and involved in every aspect of theatre into retirement. She loves teaching, directing and working with kids.
Robert Luaders is an SOU graduate and energetic computer guru who blends technology with the artistry of life. He is an award-winning vocalist, film composer, and songwriter.
Claudia Michelli has a bachelor’s in fine arts and a master’s in teaching. She is an artist with more than twenty years teaching experience.
Roxanne Miftahittina has fenced both foil and epee with the Southern Oregon Fencing Center for four years and has taught SOU-sponsored fencing activities.
Marilyn D. Moore is a Culinary Institute-Le Cordon Bleu graduate and a Certified Culinary Educator for the American Culinary Federation. She is the owner of Creative Organic Catering.
Christi Raedeke is a freelance writer and author. She is the 2009 recipient of the “Holmes Fellowship in Young Readers Literature” from Oregon Literary Arts. Her novels will be published in 2010 and 2011.
Rick Shaw is an instructor at Ashland Middle School. He has been teaching video production and helping kids learn all about the video profession for years.
Wataru Sugiyama is an international sculptor and native of Japan. He has exhibited his work throughout England, Germany, Japan, Switzerland, and the U.S.
Dr. Stephanie Sideras is an Assistant Professor, Director of Simulation, Southern Region OHSU School of Nursing located at SOU.
Sarah Swanson has a master’s of education from SOU. She is currently teaching biology and chemistry at Crater High School.
Jenny Welburn has a bachelor’s in English and a master’s in education from Lewis and Clark College. She is currently teaching English at South Medford High School.
Dana Yearsley has taught skiing at Mt. Ashland for over twenty-five years, plays competitive Tennis, coaches soccer, teaches at Willow Wind and in a flower farmer.
