The most important reason for having this tournament is to give kids the opportunity to play Scrabble and test their abilities with other kids who love the game. The emphasis is on FUN. Good sportsmanship is expected. Who: 6th-8 grades
When: Friday, April 11, 2008
Time: 9:00am - 2:00pm
Where: Rogue River Middle School, 301 Pine Street, Rogue River
Important information:
- Any Oregon middle school (up to 8th grade) is eligible to send a team(s).
- Any student currently enrolled in grades 6-8 is eligible to participate.
- Each school team will be composed of 2 players who will together play 1 rack against another team using School Scrabble rules.
- Each school may register up to 5 teams for the tournament (regardless of category).
- Schools may send names of a 6th team who may register if space is available at registration deadline on a first-registered first-served basis
- Tournament play will consist of 6 games.
Players from each school must be accompanied by an adult who will stay with their team(s) for the day
Two Levels of Play
LEVEL 1: Experienced team wanting serious competition to test their skills.
LEVEL 2: Team with little or no competitive experience wanting a recreational day of tournament play.
Results of 2008 Tournament
Scrabble players from 10 middle schools in Jackson, Josephine and Klamath counties participated in the first ever Southern Oregon Scrabble Tournament. A total of 84 students participated in the event.
