SOU Pre-College/Youth Classes
Southern Oregon University Pre-College Youth Programs is dedicated to providing enriching educational opportunities to students in grades K-12 and their families. Now in our 26th year we offer enrichment classes, academic competitions, courses offered for academic credit to high school students, and summer residential camps and classes.
Attending classes on a university campus in a fun, safe, dynamic environment will get you excited about college life and encourage dreams of becoming a college student.

Current Classes for K-12th grade students and their families
ACADEMIC COMPETITIONS Brain Bowl, Academic Scavenger Hunt, Best of the Best Art Show, Spelling, Mathematics. Open to public and private schools.
AWSEM (Advocates for Women in Science, Engineering, & Mathematics): One day symposium for middle school girls
Advanced Southern Credit Earn college credit from select classes taught at your high school
Early Entry Attend classes at SOU and earn college credit while still in high school

SUMMER PROGRAMS
SUMMER START For High School Juniors and Seniors-Take college classes for credit at SOU
HOT CLASSES For K-12th grade students- A large variety of summer enrichment programs, camps, and field trips
College Prep Institute - Includes SAT test prep, college essay writing, finding the right college for you plus special parent night to learn about scholarships and financial aid. Watch for listing under Hot Classes this summer.
Kids University: For ages 8-12 - Thirty-two exciting classes to choose from in drama, art, sports, science and computers. One week sessions with choice of 10:00 am-noon and/or 1:00-3:00pm. Includes supervised lunch
option for students taking both morning and afternoon classes. Available four weeks.
RESIDENTIAL PROGRAMS
ACADEMY Residential program for talented and highly able students completing grades 5th-8th Plus Junior Counselor High School Leadership program
Academic Latina Residential program for Latino students completing 7th, 8th & 9th grades Plus Junior Counselor High School Leadership program
Future Scholars Residential College Prep program for 9th and 10th grades
SEA CAMP OF OREGON Marine Biology residential program held at the Oregon coast for ages 9-11
Crater Lake Family Outdoor Adventures: Adult/Child Residential Program for children ages 9 and up plus a parent.
