Worlds AIDS day

Is on December 1. It was started in 1988. World AIDS day was created to bring individuals and organizations together to have the opportunity to raise awareness, fight prejudice, improve education, and focus attention on the global AIDS epidemic.

• Estimated 33.2 million people living with HIV, this include 2.5 million children
• In 2007 2.7 million more people were infected.
• Estimated 1 million people living with AIDS in the USA

World AIDS Memorial Quilt

 This year pieces of the world AIDS quilt will be at SOU.  The quilt was started in 1987 in memory of AIDS victims.There are over 40,000 panels to the quilt. They have been made to honor loved ones who have died of AIDS.
