Musical Theatre Dance and Tap
Jim Giancarlo began teaching at SOU in 1991. His primary emphasis is musical theatre, and he has established a sequence of classes in dance for musical theatre, as well as musical theatre history. He's directed and choreographed a number of SOU productions, including Sweet Charity, Candide, and the recent production of Cabaret.
Giancarlo is also the artistic director of Ashland's successful Oregon Cabaret Theatre where, in addition to directing and choreographing, he has written book and lyrics for a number of original musicals. He directs and choreographs at many west coast theatres, including Portland Repertory Theatre, PCPA Theatrefest and Seattle Civic Light Opera. Giancarlo teaches musical theatre dance, musical theatre workshop, tap, and musical theatre history. He holds a BFA from State University of New York College at Buffalo.
