Dennis Smith, Emeritus Professor

Acting for the Stage and Film

Professor Smith is a former actor and playwright who began teaching at SOU in 1985. He's made appearances at numerous regional theatres around the country, and he is a past member of Actors Equity, the Screen Actors Guild, the Writers Guild, and the Dramatists Guild. He is also the author of two books, an award-winning play titled Excursion Fare, and a new novel titled The Miracles of Santo Fico.

Smith directs numerous plays at SOU, as well as at other Rogue Valley theatre venues including the Rogue Opera, the Oregon Cabaret Theatre, and the Lyric Theatre Company. He holds a BA in theatre arts from California State University at Chico and an MFA from the University of Oregon.
