Chris SackettChris Sackett, Professor

Lighting and Sound Design Faculty

Chris Sackett holds more than 30 years of professional experience in the performing arts. He began teaching at SOU in 1987. He worked as a technical director, production manager, stage manager and program director at Britt Festivals over an 11-year period, and as a lighting designer and stage electrician at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival for four seasons. He also worked as a theatre consultant for a variety of construction projects including the remodeling of the 750-seat Craterian Ginger Rogers Theater in Medford.

As a lighting designer, he has designed over 75 theatrical performances and over 80 dance pieces. At SOU, Chris teaches sound courses, lighting design, production analysis and play-reading classes in addition to his duties as production manager. He has developed the sound curriculum and has 30 sound designs to his credit.

Chris served as department chair from 2000-2009. He holds a BFA from Southern Oregon University and an MFA in lighting and sound design from the University of British Columbia.
