The Story of Opal: The Journal of an Understanding Heart by Gale Childs Daly
Based on the actual childhood diary of naturalist Opal Whiteley, the play tells the magical story of a young girl in the Cascade woodlands in early twentieth century Oregon. Opal was considered a child prodigy because of her extensive knowledge of the natural world. Surrounded by singing creeks, talking trees, and invisible fairies that leave gifts, Opal’s story charms and educates.
