Success at Southern offers these free classes to students enrolled in the Success at Southern/Student Support Services program. College Success classes have been developed to help facilitate students’ academic and personal success in college.- Freshman Academic Development SAS 101 (Fall Term)

Designed to help Freshmen learn to succeed academically and personally. Students will heighten understanding of themselves as learners by clarifying academic goals, improving time management skills, study skills, financial planning, collaborative skills, and assessment.

Transfer Student Academic Development SAS 102 (Fall Term)

Designed to help transfer students learn to succeed academically and personally. Students will heighten understanding of themselves as learners by clarifying academic goals, improve time management skills, study skills, financial planning, collaborative skills, and assessment.

Academic Development SAS 103 (Fall, Winter, and Spring Terms)

Provides a structured setting in which students may access professional and/or tutoring support to enhance their academic skills and performance. Course emphasis is on consistent, sustained study.

Special Topics: Scholarship Application Preparation SAS 199 (Fall Term)

This course is open to students in the Success at Southern, Student Support Services program. Students will work with professional staff to learn to complete scholarship applications, write scholarship essays and complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

This course is open to students in the Success at Southern, Student Support Services program. Students will work with professional staff to learn financial literacy skills related to paying for higher education and personal/professional life. Topics include household budgeting, understanding and managing credit, loans, bank accounts, smart shopping/spending, and savings plans.
