The Southern Oregon men’s and women’s track and field teams started the season with victories Saturday as they hosted the Artie Sullivan Memorial Invitational.
The women earned their win over Oregon Institute of Technology by only one point.
Head Coach Mike Jones wants all the athletes on his team to perform to their own level of fitness.
“These are stepping stones,” said Jones. “It’s a process and I enjoy helping people reach their potential.”
SOU’s potential translated into plenty of victories Saturday.
SOU senior Emily Dunn was victorious in both the 100 and 200-meter dashes and helped the women win the 4x100 and 4x400-meter relays. Suni Davis cleaned up the last of the “dashes” for SOU with a time of 1 minute, 2.6 seconds in the 400m.
SOU’s Alicia Jeffers swept the two longer distance events with times of 5:16.03 in the 1500m run and 11:00.19 in the 3000m.
