About Us

The Walsh Memorial Newman Center Catholic Student Fellowship is a recognized club at Southern Oregon University moved by the motto 'Heart Speaks to Heart'. We believe there is an immense richness in people coming together and connecting heart-to-heart. In addition, we acknowledge that the true way to connect with people is connecting with God, who is the source of all true relationships. We are a Catholic community but welcome all who would like to attend, share in our varied programs and activities, or learn more about our Catholic Christian faith.

Our Newman Center, dedicated by Archbishop Dwyer in December 1968, came to exist through the generousity of Father William Walsh and his family, in whose memory the Center is dedicated. It has served as the home for Catholic campus ministries ever since.

The Newman Center is located just above the Theatre Arts Building and across from the Science Building at SOU, on the corner of Ashland & Elkader Streets.
