Make a Difference Day
Friday, Oct. 23 — 1 to 5 p.m.
Make a Difference Day is a national day of service where Americans across the country volunteer in their local communities to make a noticeable impact in a short amount of time. Bus transportation is provided.
Choose from one of five sites for the event:
Ecology Center of the Siskiyous
The Ecology Center of the Siskiyous, or ECOS, operates several environmental and sustainability programs on campus. Make a Difference Day volunteers will be preparing community gardens for the winter.
Emigrant Lake
Emigrant Lake is a popular park just a few minutes from campus, maintained by Jackson County Parks. We will be doing trail maintenance.
Gleaning Network
The Gleaning Network began by picking leftover pears from Harry and David's orchards and donating it to the hungry. Now they distribute 80,000 pounds of food per month.
Habitat for Humanity
Habitat for Humanity builds homes alongside low-income families throughout the Rogue Valley and provides no-interest loans so they can pay for those homes. Make a Difference Day volunteers will be putting the finishing touches on a home just before it is dedicated to a family.
Lithia Park
Lithia Park is considered the crown jewel of Ashland. It is the largest park in town, visited by thousands of people every year. Volunteers will be pulling invasive species, helping to limit the use of pesticides in the park.
