We believe that we indirectly serve all students on campus by education about Black issues and taking the initiative to make sure that there really is a Black History Month at SOU. Directly we serve hundreds of students because hundreds of students participate in our events annually.
We benefit students by educating the campus about our culture and providing fun and educational events to attend.
We are expected to bring well-known speakers to campus that brings pride to this university. The campus community is always surprised and appreciative at the caliber of speakers we bring for Black History Month — always remembering that Black History is American History!
We are one of the most successful group in terms of how much money we take in at events. We take fundraising seriously and raise funds on and off campus. We have never overspent our budget, and we work to make sure it is spent on worthwhile projects.
The BSU is effective for the simple reason that it is hard to put a price on what we do on this campus. We bring Black culture to SOU year round.
