The Sun Dance is only one of many spiritual traditional dances that are represented in Native American cultures. The Sun Dance is one of the most well known dances and primarily originated from the Plains Nation. Other tribes or cultures may have similar traditions or routines for the Sun Dance but not all are exactly the same. To maintain the culture and to keep the culture sacred to the Native Americans they respectfully decline any person outside the tribe or peoples from participating in it or viewing it; this is so that there is no chance of misconstruency or bias outlook upon the dance that could send the wrong message. The Sun Dance of the Native Americans, exemplifies the theory that what a person does in his/her life now has an effect on the generations in the future of their culture. The dance is an example of this because the dancers participating in the Sun Dance must be a part of Native American culture, the actions in the dance and what they represent symbolically, and the the traditions are kept sacred.
