Most of the arts in schools today are being taken out due to budget cuts and because individuals don't understand the benefits of the arts being implemented into schools. With being a strong believer in the arts, I wanted students to have more experience with the arts; especially dance. I created and implemented a dance routine with preschool students so they would have the opportunity to learn about dance structure as well as have a fun experience. I have learned that movement in the classroom makes a huge difference and all the students benefit from it. Throughout dancing with the students, I noticed that movement helps with energy control and a positive attitude on the students. A teacher does not need to have years of dance experience, but even a small amount of movement in the classroom can make all the difference. The implications from this is that bringing movement into the classroom has many benefits for students and I would encourage teachers to explore and implement more movement experiences into the classroom to support student growth.
