Oregon has been a large producer of tree agriculture, especially Christmas trees. They need large plots of land and considerable amounts of water. The production of perennial crops, like Christmas trees, requires resources which could be utilized for the production of annual food crops. The competition for these resources could have adverse affects on production methods, rates and prices. The introduction of this competition causes a struggle for essential resources, such as water and land. This allocation of resources could be directly influencing the production of food crops in the Rogue Valley, resulting in a lower yield and/or higher pricing.
