Relay for Life is an event that celebrates those who have survived cancer, remembers those who have been lost to cancer, and raises money for the American Cancer Society to fight back against cancer. As a volunteer the presenter became a member of the Ashland/ South Jackson County Relay for Life committee to work on Youth Development. This years theme for the Ashland/South Jackson County Relay for Life is superheros; therefore everyone who participates including the youth are superheros.The presenter worked with community programs to reach out to youth and educate them about Relay for Life as well as eating healthy, staying active, and preventing cancer. The presenter took luminaria bags to different youth outreach programs in the community for the youth to decorate. The decorated luminaria bags will surround the track during Relay for Life of Ashland/South Jackson County on May 18th. The youth also created a banner that outlines the word hope in purple hand prints that will also be used at the Relay for Life event. Celebrate. Remember. Fight Back.
