The effect of genetically modified crops on soil in the Rogue Valley

Genetically modified crops are becoming very popular in agricultural production. Higher yields are being produced on smaller amounts of land and less pesticides/herbicides are being used due to the genetic material in the transgenic plants. For my research on the topic of genetically modified crops I wanted to see how the genetically modified crops effect the soil and whether or not their use causes more degradation than organic or conventional crops.
