Wrestling Workshop for 1st-8th Grade

Patrick McLain

Since there is no youth wrestling program in Ashland, kids are missing out on the opportunity of gaining great skills such as: work ethic, team work, and even skills of how to live an overall healthy lifestyle. Because of this, I created a wrestling workshop for kids in fourth through eighth grade. The wrestling workshop gave basic skills of the sport along with fun games incorporated within the sport. I also had help from successful college wrestlers who talked about their experiences in wrestling over time. As a result of completing this wrestling workshop, I gained leadership skills, organizational skills, and promotional skills. Since completing this project, I have been asked to continue this wrestling camp. I was able to collect donations as well. These donations will help kids in need to participate in team sports at the Ashland Family YMCA.
