I have a river paddle with inspirational aphorisms pasted on it, which I hand selected for a project in a teaching class last term. I also have an essay which outlines my philosophy on teaching writing. The goal is for the teacher to guide student writing, not try and create it. I will introduce my philosophy, share my paddle with the class and perform a mini-teaching lesson based on the paddle (time permitting).
