In our generation people have become accustomed to multitasking; being a working parent while trying to attend school. All this can become overwhelming and can lead to escalations in stress levels and an increase in health related problems. In the case of college students, many face numerous daily stresses (i.e. roommate situations, academic problems, peer pressures, financial and career concerns). With all the stressors involved with attending a college or university, there must be something that accounts for the reduced reaction towards chronic and pervasive stressors. To understand this better we used several scales to look at the relationship between an individual's level of optimism and its effect on their ability to manage stress better and their resiliency level. Preliminary findings suggest that there is a positive correlation between optimism and its effects on stress levels and resiliency levels. This study could have many future implications when looking at mental health and its connection to a person physical well-being.
