For the past three years the presenter has been blessed to be the head basketball coach at Sacred Heart Middle School in Medford Oregon; a small private school that may not excel athletically but provides an environment where student athletes find success other than the scoreboard. The team strives for excellence in sportsmanship, work ethics, team bonding, and personal growth. The team made the goal of playing in Eugene Oregon in the St. Paul tournament, but first had to demonstrate their mastery in sportsmanship, work ethic, and overall commitment to the team. The coach was inspired to see such committed young men work relentlessly to achieve their goal. The tournament itself provides much more than basketball, but a chance for all teams to be a part of an environment that is based on success in many different forms. The team may not have been the best in the tournament but they were able to make lasting memories and bring back two individual awards for Sacred Heart Middle School. In the end it was an honor to see such growth in the team individually and as a whole.
