The project aims to promote environmental awareness and introduce gardening to the Community Preschool at Southern Oregon University. The presenters developed a curriculum revolving around the preschool's garden plot at the University's community garden. Through this project experience, the presenters created a kinesthetic environment for preschoolers to learn about the significance of gardening. The preschoolers became environmentally conscious through weekly lessons in and outside of the classroom. The students learned how to maintain a garden through group activities such as weeding and turning the soil. The preschool and the presenters observed and maintained the garden's development over the course of the year. In the spring, the soil was prepared to receive seeds and plants. The presenters provided inspiring experiences for students to appreciate gardening and the environment. The community-based learning project will influence the presenters to include gardening and environmental awareness in their future classroom curriculum. With the support of community involvement such as the Ashland Grange, the head preschool instructors, the garden educational coordinator of Southern Oregon University's Community Garden, and Capstone Professor, the presenters were able to receive the support and resources needed to create the garden.
