This project is a demonstration of performance poetry by "The Poeteers," a group of elders, many of whom have taken my course in Performance Poetry offered through OLLI. We treat poems as short, one-act plays, combining traditional (Shakespeare's sonnets) with contemporary and original poetry. We find, script, cast, rehearse, and perform poetry, an unusual approach to the public presentation of poems. So far, we have performed at schools, galleries, and retirement centers. We can perform in small or large spaces, but we prefer a raised stage if one is available.
