Who Takes Risks? Self-Esteem and Gender as Predictors of Risky Behavior

Brooklyn Bauer

College students are well known for engaging in risky behaviors. Some research has indicated that gender and self-esteem may have an influence on these behaviors. To further research in this area, undergraduate college students participated in an online survey that asked what risk taking behaviors they engage in and measured components of self-esteem including who one is, what one does, what one has, how one appears, and to whom one is attached. The expected results will demonstrate a difference with gender and people with high and low self-esteem when engaging in risk taking behavior.
