To the people that are not educated in dance, Riverdance is the traditional Irish step dance. But, really, Riverdance is a combination of all of the traditional forms of Irish step dance. Riverdance was created in 1994 when it first preform in Dublin and this is when the Irish culture became very known to the popular culture. Because of Riverdance, all around the world, people wanted to learn Riverdance. Thus if Riverdance never premiered, and the Irish step dance would only be known to the people of Ireland. Even though the Riverdance phenomenon brought Ireland a lot of attention, it created a lot of incorrect stereotypes that effected the country.
