The Argentine Tango

Veronica Sedlacek

The Argentine Tango is known for being very sexual and risqué. The tango has been considered to be emphasizing lowlife values and has been called a "moral threat" because of its suggestive movements but the tango is more than that. The tango is not a moral threat because it was created in the 19th century by the lower-class that was struggling. The lower class citizens used this dance as a way to release their frustrating on their problems. For example, they used this dance to show the struggle of man trying to gain dominance over the women because women in Argentina started being more independent. It was a way for the citizens to have a voice in society when they normally were not allowed to express themselves.
