There are roughly 845 million Facebook users world-wide and over 9.7 billion minutes are spent on Facebook a day. Facebook is easily accessible through computers, cellphones, and tablets, pervading every inch of social media. Facebook is not only a way for people to connect with others, promote businesses, and advertise, but is a method for people to control how they present themselves to the world. There are many studies looking at what people do on Facebook, but not necessarily how much time people spend on it. Theoretically, the more time a user spends on Facebook the more time they have to groom their image so as to get the maximum attention possible - this begs the question "Can the amount of time spent on Facebook indicate levels of narcissism?" To examine this further, the study polled college undergraduates through online and in-person surveys pertaining to Facebook usage and narcissism. Ultimately the relationships between gender, Facebook usage, and narcissism levels are hypothesized such that females will be more emotionally involved in Facebook than men, hence will have higher Facebook usage reported and higher scores on the narcissism poll.
