Victim Profiles

Charles Gheen

The criminal justice system has adopted behavioral analysis techniques in the effective administration of justice. One of the emerging trends is the profiling of victims in criminal investigations. Although the concept has been a focus of research for over five decades it has been poorly applied and largely overlooked in favor of the more accepted criminal profiling. This study recommends that widespread adoption of victim profiling in regular criminal investigations will improve the criminal justice system. A standard profile system must be developed in order to ensure that behavioral profiling is balanced between focusing on the criminal as well as the victim.
