Family Scavenger Hunt in the Park

Sarah Bourne

Building an educational bridge between school, families, and the community is so important for children. I wanted to explore and find a way that I could connect families with a way to build on what their child was learning in school while using a community resource. I put together a scavenger hunt at a local park where the whole family was invited to join in. I created a booklet that had a list of things to look for this included counting and comparing different things. I came up with and included ideas for different projects parents could do with the children with things they found at the park. I also wanted to build on other ways they could use the park, so I included some more ideas for what they could do at the park.
