This research was conducted over the course of 9 months under the direction of Vincent Smith and focuses on the eating habits of Jackson County residents. Over the summer, I worked with ACCESS, Inc. to design, implement, and analyze surveys that dealt with issues around food insecurity and the consumption of healthy food in Jackson County, Oregon. The surveys were distributed in food pantries, the local WIC office, outside of grocery stores, and in a west Medford food desert. The survey results were discussed at the Rogue Valley Food Summit on March 9th, 2013. Additionally, I conducted eleven interviews with individuals who eat locally and I will also present the findings from those interviews.
