The Academic Achievement and Self Esteem of Active and Passive Procrastinators

Alexandra Schmidt

Procrastination has been a concern among teachers for many years especially in regards to students' homework and preparation for tests. The research on procrastination has been extensive, though self esteem and academic achievement have not been studied as much. The purpose of the study is to determine if there is a relationship between self esteem, academic achievement as defined by grade point average and the different types of procrastination such as passive procrastination and active procrastination. The researcher plans to collect data from 75-100 college students at Southern Oregon University. The results have yet to be determined.
