Homelessness is an epidemic in the United States. Each year between 2.5 and 3.5 million people will live either on the street or in an emergency shelter. Prevalence rates for substance use among the homeless ranges from 52% to 78%. The focus of this project was to conduct a community needs survey and then utilize the findings to provide recommendations for an evidence based plan and care strategy for the homeless population in Jackson County who are afflicted with substance use disorders.
