This paper will explore what Mike Davis calls the construction of "third borders," barriers that serve to limit the interactions between blue-collar Latinos and middle to upper class whites. This paper will argue that third borders are responsible for the invisibility to Latinos in the United States and that this invisibility has several implications: Latinos are not taken seriously in a political sense, despite majority minority status, and Latino issues beyond the U.S. borders(e.g specifically the violence in across the border in Mexico) are not reported on by the media despite the relevance they may have for the United States.
