Class on the Diamond

My capstone is about my community based learning project on teaching baseball to young baseball players in the Rogue Valley. I taught the players some of what I have learned throughout my baseball career. Sports are a privilege and should be treated as such. They can also open up many opportunities for young players. I was able to go to their practice and work with two different teams. I helped the younger players with their hitting, throwing, and their fielding as a group and in individual drills. I helped the older players with their pitching mechanics individually and showed the coaches some good drills they can do at future practices. While teaching baseball was important, I stressed to the children the importance of working hard in school. I also talked to each team, as a group about following their dreams and never giving up.
