Madrone Trail Garden

For my community based learning project I had a Waldorf school's second grade class extend their gardening to my local farm. Gardening is a large and important part of the curriculum. The school has inadequate funds and space so their experiences were limited. The garden serves as a learning experience and as a food donation. The produce will go to the class’s families, to the community and organizations like the Dunn House. My hope is to provide children with valuable life experience and healthful organic produce. The students enjoyed learning how to plant seasonal starts like lettuce, spinach and onions as well as some radish and beet seeds. The students really enjoyed planting the garden and are eagerly awaiting their trip back to the farm to enjoy the harvest.
