The purpose of this research was to investigate the effects of water fluoridation with varying amounts of fluoride and how to determine the concentration of fluoride. All the articles reviewed determined the concentration of fluoride in the water supplies of the inhabitants and to what extend the inhabitants were affected by the concentration of fluoride in their water supply. Most of the studies focused on the degree of fluorosis exhibited by the inhabitants. All of those studies compared the degree of fluorosis in lower fluoride concentrations to the higher concentration of fluoride areas. What the researchers found was interesting. They discovered that below the recommended level of water fluoridation (1 ppm), a significant percentage of the population exhibited fluorosis. This suggests that the recommended concentration of water fluoridation is too high, because a significant percentage of the population had adverse and irreversible damage from the water fluoridation.
