Information Literacy Survey: A Value-Added Assessment of Student Learning

For the past two years, the Hannon Library has administered an information literacy survey to University Seminar students. The two-part, 20-question survey is designed as a value-added measurement of each student’s ability to access and use information efficiently, effectively, and ethically. Students complete a pre-test early in the Fall term and a post-test toward the middle of Spring term. The goal is to determine if there was a change in the scores that indicated the value of the students’ learning experience. The results of the initial testing and past two years will be presented along with a more detailed look at the development of the survey instrument.
