More than fifty years after C.P. Snow's famous "two cultures" lecture, there is a movement to bridge the divide between art and science with an intellectual borderland where their shared creativity and quest for discovery can be synergized. The patterns, harmonies, symbols, and perceptions that are shared across borders and disciplines, where knowledge and wisdom unite, define a new way of thinking, teaching and learning. This paradigm shift may serve to spark extraordinary creativity and inspiration for students, educators and researchers. Presented here are images of stained glass mosaics, each serving as environmental commentary. A disciplined study of biology has given me a perspective and visual vocabulary that resonates with Impressionism, which I view as mosaics of color -- a metaphor for the community of life, from cell membranes to biomes of various tone and hue.
