The trend of ecotourism over the years involves successes and failures of implementation across the globe. The impacts of an influx of tourists and development, even sustainable development, on a sensitive ecosystem, typically the type of location where ecotourism is developed, require clear guidelines that help set up tourist sites for successful conservation. The poster shows how real tourism can support the local economy in clear and tangible ways, while encouraging the support and education of both locals and tourists. The poster includes concrete areas of improvement and for what is currently understood as ecotourism to meet all of the goals set forth by the International Ecotourism Society. The suggestions developed range from more environmental education for the general public, more effective education during ecotourism activities meeting both tourists and locals at their level, and making conservation imperative in the minds of all of those involved in developing ecotourism.
