My research thus far defines the self when involved in a group, understanding why in some cultures it's easier to assemble as opposed to others. My SOAR project will include my interest in the power of the group dynamic and humans' ability to assemble by exemplifying this idea in a theatrical way. I envision a flash mob style situation, introducing my presentation with a speech and slideshow of touching social movements from all over the world, where those that have been discriminated against came together and made positive changes in their society because their power of their voices as one. During my presentation, a song will suddenly start playing and I will continue to attempt my speech while 30-40 members of the audience are doing choreography, showing how powerful it is to see many people doing the same action at the same time.
