Hostels can be found worldwide, providing a warm bed and various amenities for a low cost per night. This research was conducted due to a passion for travel, exploration and sustainability. Integrating all three into an affordable and accessible solution led straight to hostels and their story. The focus of the research is to convey the attributes that the availability of hostels produces as well as stories from the past, present and even the future. With an approach beginning with simple internet searches and expanding to a visit to our local hostel as well as planning a trip to stay in an international hostel, this research grabs various aspects on the topic to create an overview giving the reader a general, yet thorough knowledge on hostels. Results found that hostels are in fact a sustainable, affordable, and in some cases life changing opportunity for those seeking adventure and enrichment.
