Maus is a graphic novel (also known as a comic book) created by Art Spiegelman that depicts his father's life during World War II, but the story is told with the nationalities of the people with animal heads. The Polish are pigs, Germans are cats, and the Jewish are mice. Maus opens the question of "does Maus count as literature?" The allegories and symbolism to be found in it is astounding, and is addressed in this poster, from the meanings behind the Polish being presented as pigs, to the choice as comics as the medium to present the story in.
