Autism is the fastest growing disability in America. Every year one in 88 children is diagnosed with Autism. The general population is not fully aware of what it is like to have a child with Autism. To spread awareness about this disability, project organizers decided to create a book and have parents write their experiences about their child with Autism. I wrote my own story about my son Luke who experiences Autism. Organizers were able to have the book printed for free. Proceeds from the book were donated to Families for Community, a local Autism support group. Organizers placed the books around various businesses in Medford for purchase, as well as for purchase online. The books were handed out at the Autism Gala, an annual event. The organizers attended the gala with family and friends. With food, drinks, dancing and guest speakers, the event was awesome and inspiring.
