Neighbors Helping Neighbors

ACCESS, a local not-for-profit organization which assists people in need, serves over two hundred local low-income senior citizens a year. Many senior citizens within the Rogue Valley live at or below the poverty line. The elderly often live on social security or a scanty pension, and often this simply isn't enough to meet all their needs. This often leads to the elderly making decisions that they shouldn't have to face. Because demand is high not only for donations of food, but also that of personal hygiene items, a drive was held for such items to benefit the ACCESS Senior Outreach Program. Through support of local businesses, churches and community members over four hundred individual personal hygiene items were collected. These items will allow low-income seniors to utilize this valuable service provided through ACCESS at no charge and have a way to gain items needed for everyday life.
