The Mosaic Project is a non-profit organization based out of Oakland, California that empowers children to strive for peace. Their principal program is an Outdoor School for students of diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds that promotes inclusion, celebrates diversity, and gives students tools for creating peaceful communities. Students complete the program empowered to love and respect themselves and all others. On April 7th, 2012, a fundraising event was held on the Southern Oregon University campus to benefit the noble endeavors of The Mosaic Project. The event included live performances from the local dance company, Dancing People Company, and singer Michelle Bellamy. Over $400 was raised and guests of the Ashland community learned more about the work of The Mosaic Project. Local artists and community members were joyfully united in support of the cause.
