Healthy Life Choices

Natalie Wood

Making healthy life choices at a young age gives children a solid base on how they will live the rest of their lives. However, many children are not given the opportunity to learn how valuable healthy choices are. In this project, children at the Boys and Girls Club in Grants Pass were given the opportunity to learn more about healthy living habits, daily movement activities, and the importance of not using drugs and alcohol through lessons guided by a program called "Smart Moves." At the end of this project, a family night was held. Parents were given the opportunity to hear what their children had been learning in this program about having a healthy lifestyle. They then participated in an activity that promoted how movement can be fun. This was also an effective and fun way to connect children and families in the community.
