'if once' is a performative installation, incorporating sculpture, sound and film elements. This project is a collaboration of two friends examining aspects of live cinema and sculpture. The work is in three distinct pieces within the Center for Visual Arts courtyard. The sculptural elements, created by Alasdair Burns, developed as an expression of the architectural environment and the hard scape elements of the courtyard. Alasdair has a unique ability to see beyond the obvious and re-purpose ordinary objects into works of art that beg prolonged examination. I've often tried to explain how I see music in his work. I now have the wonderful opportunity to try to express this. We want to acknowledge the work our professor, David Bithell, has put into our project by creating a new software application to handle the sound element of this sculpture. Many thanks from us, David!
