Trash can art is how I am helping cleaning up our little community and make it a better place by working with and involving local businesses, community members, and the local elementary school. I have come up with the idea to place six trash cans around our little town that have been decorated by grades first through fourth classes. This is part of Earth week and our town clean up week, this week involves community members cleaning their property, the streets, and around the town to make our community environment a better place to live. The trash cans will be decorated by the classes then places at the local businesses on Main Street where the public can use them for their convenience. The hope is to cut down on the littering that is happening and to teach the young children about the importance of why not to litter. I also feel this is a way to teach young children to take pride in the place they live. Involving the community members and the local businesses is a great way to show the children that team work builds a strong community.
